Owens Corning Insulation / O’Hagin Roof Vents — Hanford, California

As summer approached, Katherine Andes was worried about her electricity bills. She had already done much to make her home energy efficient. She realized she needed insulation and called Visalia Roofing & Construction.

Owens Corning Insulation

Katherine had thought she had insulation, but if she did, it had long ago dissipated. We spent a morning blowing high-performance R38 Owens Corning Insulation into her attic.

O’Hagin Roof Vents

Visalia Roofing also installed O’ Hagin Roof vents. We prefer the O’Hagin roof vents due to traditional ridge vents failing due to dust and debris in the Central Valley. We have experienced them clogging and not working efficiently. In addition, O’Hagin roof vents rarely, if ever, leak due to the engineering to displace water. Each one provides 72 square inches of net free ventilation.

Insulation and Roof Venting = Energy Savings

Average estimates of energy savings from proper insulation and venting are 15%. But we’ve seen it go as high as 25 to 30%.

“I had an ah-ha moment.”

For some reason, I had thought my house was insulated because my husband had rolled out a few sheets of insulation in my attic 35 years ago. One day, while contemplating my high energy usage, I had an ah-hah moment. I needed insulation, professionally installed. I contacted Visalia Roofing and they scheduled me about a week out. Steve also recommended I install O’Hagin roof vents because ridge vents don’t work as well in the Central Valley with the debris and dust. The crew was friendly and respectful while on my property. Since they completed the project a few months ago, I can already see that my energy usage is significantly down. I really appreciated the professionalism of Steve, Derek, and their crew.
